Background

Personal Statement: Rob was a Physical Training Instructor (PTI) in the Royal Marines Reserve (RMR) and specialised in improving recruits endurance, strength and circuit training abilities so that they could pass the arduous Commando tests. He also performed regular training and physical selection tests for the trained ranks to ensure that they are up to the standards required for operational deployments.

Rob now enjoys the challenge of helping people from all walks of life to improve their health and reach their full potential.

Rob worked as a freelance Personal Trainer at Fitness First Portsmouth for 10 months in 2005, carrying out inductions, fitness assessments, taking part in exercise classes and training people of all ages on the cardiovascular and resistance machines, weights and one to one circuits and kickboxing exercise. Due to my commitments within the RMR and the limited time that Fitness First allowed me for time off I decided to leave and concentrate more on house calls and outdoor training / boot camps.

I was born and raised in Portsmouth, then lived in Guildford and now live in Pulborough, West Sussex with my wife Claire and two young sons.

Specialities: Circuit training, fitness assessment and training programmes, exercise for specific populations, exercise physiology and nutrition, applied sports psychology, boxing / kickboxing exercise, outdoor running, walking, cycling and circuits.

Experience: My Sports Science background and time spent training with the RMR has developed my awareness and skills of how to train people to go that ‘extra mile’. Also my time spent working at Fitness First with many different clients and other personal trainers has increased my all-round knowledge of fitness training.

Interests: Running, road cycling, mountain biking, travelling, photography, music and cinema.

Places I have travelled to so far: Edinburgh, Dublin, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, St Louis, Kansas City Missouri (5 months University Exchange), Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, Perth, Singapore, Bangkok, Koh Samui, Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Railey Krabi, Rome, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Norway, Ibiza, Borovets Bulgaria, Muscat Oman, Dar es Salaam Tanzania, Borneo, Spain, Cairo, Sharm el Sheikh, Banff Canada, Rio, and Lanzarote.

Zoom Online Fitness Training Workouts: Due to the current coronovirus COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown / self isolation / quarantine / social distancing Rob has started some weekly Zoom online fitness sessions which are 35 minutes long and cater for all ages and abilities – please contact us for further details. Even when things return to normal and we start to meet up again for outdoor training Rob will still run the occasional online workout that people can watch and follow via their smartphone, tablet, Mac or PC or computer to smart TV mirror.
